“ Giant portions! Finally came to try this LA staple. We got the mixed fish plate, with bagels, and a pastrami. Along with the matzo ball soup (this was just ok). Their cakes looked insane with multi layers, but absolutely something I would return to try in the future. Definitely left feeling full with leftovers to go! It does get crowded with a line out the door, so try to beat the rush by going during off hours or earlier in the morning. ”

The meat was tender and flavorful, with just the right balance of smokiness and spice, and the melted Swiss tied it all together beautifully. Someone is always randomly vacuuming, the ambiance is nice, relaxing and so enjoyable. Whether you're a longtime Brent's fan or a first-timer, the 555 is a must-try. “ The best pastrami sandwich I have ever eaten. Absolutely incredible and every bite was fantastic. I'm not usually into pickles and sour kraut or slaw but wow I put off of it on and had a delightful lunch. The latkes and blintzes were delicious. Unfortunately they put blue cheese instead of Swiss cheese on my wife's burger and so we hardly took 2 bites--she always feels too embarrassed to send food back but the fries were solid. The pastrami was so good that I won't take a star off for the mix up / service. And she was able to have some of my sandwich to make up for it. We will absolutely be back!! ”

“ Brent's Delicatessen & Restaurant in Northridge is such a classic. It was established in 1967 and it has that typical New York family-friendly diner vibe with cozy booths and a menu that makes you want to order everything. Jonathan and Victor were so helpful, but honestly, all the staff were amazing. We got the Black Pastrami Reuben (soooo good), Fresh Turkey Reuben, Caesar salad, cucumber salad, and a slice of four layer chocolate cake- spoiler: it was MASSIVE. Everything was delicious, and now I have to go back to try the chopped liver!! Definitely a spot worth coming back to! ”

“ I have to admit, it took me a while to "get" this place. Maybe it's because I didn't really know Jewish Delis or Diners, maybe it's because I had initial sticker shock at the cost of a sandwich, or maybe it's because the late-night ambiance and nostalgia I had for Canter's could never be met by any other place. But now I get it. Now my family and I yearn to come here. We look forward to each of our favorite dishes. Brent's matzoh ball soup is the only thing that makes us feel better when we're sick. Our cousins want to go here when they come visit from out of state. I like the Kasha Varnishkas, or the stuffed Kisha and Farfel. Most people I come with order one of the huge sandwiches overflowing with meat. Pro tip: get an extra order of bread and make it into a whole 'nother sandwich! Everybody has their own favorite entrée, some unexpected - hot pastrami and chopped liver sandwich? Chinese chicken salad? Really? Yes! ...and then there are the desserts! There are so many yummy desserts ....again .....just huge servings! I gotta mention, we were feeling under the weather and today we used DoorDash and ordered some food and soup. First time paying the extra $2 to have the Matzoball on the side - totally worth it!!! You get so much more soup! ”

“ Brent's Delicatessen is a well known Jewish deli. I suggested this spot for lunch because we were in the area for the day, and I know my boyfriend loves pastrami sandwiches and they have one of the top-rated ones in Southern California. The layout seems like they were maximizing their sq footage, so the space is a bit tight. But you definitely feel the vibes of a mom and pop shop. We were lucky to be immediately seated when we arrived since they were so busy. The booth we were in had a neighboring booth. It looked like there used to be a divider of some sort, but it was removed so you might be a tad close to the table next to you. Our neighbors were really friendly and had all sorts of questions about the food we ordered. My boyfriend got the Hot Pastrami Traditional Sandwich ($21) which is served on rye bread with your option of potato salad or coleslaw, in which he opted for the potato salad. And whoaaaaaaaa.... Best pastrami sandwich ever. The pastrami was so thin and delicious, not too salty at all. The bread was crispy and complimentary. The potato salad was average. We were thinking about asking to upgrade for fries instead or something like that next time. I wanted to try a variety of things so I ordered the Matzo Ball Soup ($13) and an appetizer Stuffed Cabbage ($15). Either one of those things would have been enough for me because the portions are HUGE. The matzo ball was huge and it rested on top of chicken noodle soup. The chicken broth was so decadent and fatty. I wouldn't say it was healthy, but it was delicious. I had to take most of it to-go since it seemed like the item that would reheat better by compare, and it was still delicious as a leftover. The stuffed cabbage was HUGE and I'm impressed it stayed well intact as I cut into it. The super soft cabbage was filled with ground beef and cooked in a tomato sauce. The menu says sweet and sour, but I mostly just tasted sweet. I really like tomato flavors so I LOVED it, but I think it was a tad too sweet for my boyfriend. Oh well, more for me! Best discover ever! We both had such a nice meal, I can see us making the far drive back here the next time we need our Jewish Deli fix. ”

“ Classic diner with delicious deli foods. The first time we came on a weekend, the line was so long. So we returned on a weeknight to try the pastrami sandwich. The meat was thinly sliced, warm, and a bit juicy. I liked the peppery taste it had. The bread was soft and the herbs and spices in it complement the meat very well. Overall a delicious sandwich, but it costs about double other places. The ambiance feels so classic. The Plaza and the restaurant feel like I've gone back in time a few decades. ”
